Hi, I'm Fiona, owner, dog trainer and chief dog walker at K9 FUNdamentals Ltd.
You must have peace of mind, confidence and trust that your loved dog will be well looked after. Therefore it's important that anyone who has the privilege of training or walking your pet is well qualified and experienced. My qualifications include:
> Certificate in Animal Management - Canine Training & Behaviour (Unitec)
> Certificate in Companion Animal Services (Mahurangi Technical Institute)
> Certified Puppy Trainer
> Pet First Aid certified
I have volunteered my time at several dog day care centres in Auckland and the Animal Shelter in Silverdale.
Growing up I've always been surrounded with lots of rescued pets. When I left home I continued that tradition adopting my pets from animal shelters.
Our latest fur kids are:
Flynn, our SPCA pooch. After telling the kids that we would be adopting an adult dog and not a puppy … we ended up with a puppy! He's highly energetic, extremely intelligent and completely ball obsessed. Flynn was my training buddy at Unitec where I gained my Canine Behaviour and Training qualification.
Luka is our Humane Society adoption. Luka was rescued at two years old after being found wandering the streets. Under-weight, having a serious bout of mange, an eye infection and a broken leg he'd had a tough start to life. After living for a prolonged period of time in a foster home he found a forever home with us. He's been with us for several years now and is enjoying life to the max. Luka is our little big dog and a real teddy bear.
Molly is our senior cat with a 'who cares' attitude. Adopted from the SPCA as a kitten she comes and goes as she pleases but can always be found curled up at the end of the bed on cold winter nights. Oh and she rules the roost over the dogs!
